Isaiah Osbourne had a chance to give Blackpool an early lead, but his fourth-minute strike was deflected wide.

Jesse Lingard tried to unleash a strike from close range after collecting from a Leonardo Ulloa header, but he was ruled offside.

Matt Gilks was called into action 20 minutes in when Dale Stephens hit the ball on the half-volley from the edge of the box, but the Blackpool keeper was able to deny him the opening goal.

Tomasz Kuszczak had to remain alert down the other end as the visitors won a series of corners, but the keeper cleared the danger to keep the sides level.
