New Burnley goalkeeper Matt Gilks has revealed that Blackpool offered him a new contract via text message.
The 32-year-old stopper was announced as a Burnley player earlier today and told the Clarets' website of the peculiar offer from his former club.
"I was out of contract at Blackpool and they did offer me a new one via text message, which was strange," he said.
"I think I wanted to move on anyway, I've been there for six years and had three brilliant years there under Ian Holloway."
Gilks signed a two-year deal at Turf Moor and will challenge Tom Heaton for the number one jersey in the Premier League.
