Nile Ranger claims Blackpool "took the mick" with his contract

AWOL Blackpool striker Nile Ranger speaks out on his situation with the Lancashire club, claiming that they "took the mick" with his contract.

AWOL striker Nile Ranger has claimed that Championship side Blackpool "took the mick" with his contract this year.

The 24-year-old scored two goals in 14 appearances for the Seasiders in the first half of the season, but then stopped turning up for training in December after falling out with manager Lee Clark.

The former Newcastle United man revealed to the Blackpool Gazette that he only signed for Blackpool after a move to Leeds United fell through.

"I'm not on a lot of money there to be honest, they really took the mick," he said.

"They put me on minimum wage and pay as you play.

"I was supposed to go to Leeds but it fell through so I went to Blackpool as a platform and just took whatever deal."

Upon signing a one-year deal with Blackpool last summer, Ranger suggested that it would be his last shot at football.

However, he now believes that he will find a club next season and prove himself as a consistent performer.

"There will be plenty of opportunities for me, people think my chances have run out," he added.

"But there will be plenty of things for me in the future."

Blackpool have been relegated and will be playing football in League One next season.
