Preview: Blackpool vs. Wycombe Wanderers - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Blackpool and Wycombe Wanderers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Blackpool will be looking to claim their first league win of the season when they welcome Wycombe Wanderers to Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Chairboys will have the opportunity to clinch a second straight win after beating Rotherham United last weekend.

Blackpool are currently without a permanent manager after Neil Critchley was relieved of his duties following a 3-0 defeat to Stockport County earlier this month.

Critchley began the campaign with consecutive defeats, before interim boss Richard Keogh took charge of a 4-4 draw against Cambridge United in his first game in charge.

Keogh then oversaw Blackpool's first win of the season in Tuesday's away clash in the EFL Cup with Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers.

The Tangerines came from behind to clinch a narrow 2-1 win thanks to second-half efforts from Jake Beesley and Hayden Coulson.

After reaching the third round for the first time since 2018-19, Blackpool will now turn their focus back to League One action, with the Tangerines looking to beat Wycombe for the first time since January 2004.

Wycombe experienced an underwhelming start to the season, with their first four competitive matches producing just one win and three defeats, including two losses in the league.

However, the Chairboys appear to have turned a corner in their last two matches, having recorded back-to-back victories against Rotherham United and Swansea City.

Matt Bloomfield's side recorded a 2-0 home win over the Millers, before they edged out Championship side Swansea in Wednesday's EFL Cup clash.

Richard Kone scored the decisive goal to claim a narrow 1-0 away victory to send Wycombe through to the third round for the first time since 2021-22.

The Chairboys will now turn their focus to Saturday's league game against Blackpool, and they will fancy their chances of taking at least a point from the contest after avoiding defeat in each of their last nine head-to-head meetings.

Blackpool remain without the services of Andy Lyons, who is continuing to work on his rehabilitation from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Albie Morgan has missed the first five matches of the season through injury and remains sidelined for Saturday's home fixture.

Defender Olly Casey and midfielder Ryan Finnigan are doubts after they were forced off in the first half against Blackburn.

Elkan Baggott, Sonny Carey and Jordan Rhodes were unavailable for the midweek outing and will have to be assessed ahead of the weekend.

As for the Chairboys, they are having to contend with a lengthy injury list which includes Nathan Bishop, Ryan Tafazolli, David Wheeler and Luke Leahy.

The visitors are also having to cope without the forward trio of Sam Vokes, Bez Lubala and Brandon Hanlan.

Wycombe skipper Jack Grimmer recently joined the absentee list after he sustained a muscle injury in the league win over Rotherham.

Blackpool possible starting lineup:
O'Donnell; Casey, Pennington, Husband; Hamilton, Norburn, Evans, Coulson; Joseph, Ballard, Fletcher

Wycombe Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Ravizzoli; McCarthy, Low, Hartridge, Harvie; Butcher, Scowen, Sadlier; Udoh, McCleary, Kone

We say: Blackpool 1-1 Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe have avoided defeat in each of their last nine meetings with Blackpool, and we think that they will continue that run by holding the Tangerines to a draw at Bloomfield Road.
