Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Jonathan Greening is set to sign for Blackpool, according to Hartlepool United manager Colin Cooper.
The 35-year-old had been on trial at Pools after an unsuccessful period training with Rotherham United.
Greening played in a friendly against his former club Middlesbrough this week, but Cooper believes that his ex-teammate will now join the Tangerines instead.
"After the game on Wednesday he informed me that he'd had an offer from Blackpool," the Hartlepool Mail quotes Cooper as saying.
"It'll be very difficult for me to match what Blackpool can offer him. As much as I'd love to have him, he might be one that just slipped through the net.
"But that's football, that's life. It doesn't alter my relationship with him."
Greening is a free agent after being released by Forest at the end of last season.
