Atalanta BC see off Bologna

Atalanta BC beat Bologna 2-0 in their Serie A match at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

Atalanta BC have extended their winning run in Serie A to six matches by beating Bologna 2-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara this evening.

The visitors went ahead in the 22nd minute as Giuseppe De Luca burst into the box before drilling a low strike into the bottom corner.

They doubled their lead four minutes later when De Luca laid the ball for Marcelo Estigarribia to fire a long-range strike into the top corner of the net.

Bologna came close to pulling a goal back soon after through Jose Angel Crespo, who saw his shot turned around the post by Andrea Consigli.

Davide Moscardelli and Robert Acquafresca had further chances to score for the visitors at the end of the first half, but Consigli kept out their respective efforts.

After the break Bologna dominated and Moscardelli, Rolando Bianchi and Lazaros Christodoulopoulos all saw shots saved by the keeper, but they could not find the breakthrough as the visitors held on to claim all three points.

The result means that Atalanta stay seventh in the Serie A table, but are now just two points away from fifth-placed Inter Milan, who are in the final Europa League qualifying spot.
