The away side started brightly and had an early chance through Cyril Thereau, but his effort was well blocked.

In the 13th minute, however, Bologna went ahead when Panagiotis Kone headed in from an Alessandro Diamanti corner.

Thereau struck wide when well-placed and Isaac Cofie had a shot blocked as Chievo piled forward looking for the equaliser.

However, a minute before the break Bologna doubled their advantage with Alberto Gilardino being set up by Diego Perez.

Then in the 60th minute the points were wrapped up as Gilardino notched his second from another corner.

Luciano had a sight of goal inside the final 15 minutes but he too was unable to find the target as Bologna extended their lead late on courtesy of Manolo Gabbiadini.
