Charlton appealed for a penalty on 24 minutes after Keith Andrews seemed to bundle Chris Solly to the ground, though nothing was given.
Danny Haynes got in on goal three minutes later, however a last-ditch challenge from Tyrone Mears denied the chance.
Haynes had another chance on 37 minutes, but headed wide when he should have probably made it 1-0.
The referee blew the whistle on a goalless opening 45 minutes.
