A wonderful solo effort from Mark Davies earned Bolton Wanderers their first away win of the season over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough this afternoon.
The Trotters had previously lost all three of their matches on their travels this season, but goals from Davies and Marcos Alonso cancelled out a Ross Barkley penalty to secure them victory.
After Chris Eagles and David N'Gog had both gone close in a first half dominated by the visitors, Alonso headed Bolton into the lead a minute before the break by converting from Eagles's corner.
Rhys McCabe had struck the post from long range for Wednesday, but the Owls had otherwise failed to create any goalscoring opportunities.
That soon changed in the second period when Anthony Gardner was felled in the box, allowing Everton loanee Barkley to net his first senior goal on his debut for the hosts.
Wednesday's parity lasted all of three minutes though, as Davies ghosted past three players before bending the ball past Chris Kirkland for the winning goal.
