New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream is in line for a January move to Bolton, according to Sky Sports News.
The 24-year-old defender has trained with the club during the MLS off-season and looks likely to link up with fellow American international Stuart Holden at the Reebok Stadium.
Red Bulls general manager Erik Soler, however, has refused to confirm that the player is on his way to England.
"There are a few European clubs interested in signing Tim. Other than that, we are not in a position to comment at this stage," Soler told ESPN.
Bolton could tie up the move as early as Saturday morning, but will be without the defender for their FA Cup tie with Macclesfield Town later in the day.
