Borussia Dortmund put six past hapless Legia Warsaw

Six different players get on the scoresheet as Legia Warsaw fall to a heavy 6-0 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund on their return to the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund have kicked off their Champions League campaign in style by cruising to a 6-0 victory against Legia Warsaw at the Stadion Wojska Polskiego.

The hosts - Poland's first representatives at this stage of the competition in 21 years - found themselves three down in the opening quarter of the match and failed to recover.

Mario Gotze got Dortmund up and running with his first goal for the club since rejoining in the summer, heading home from a left-sided cross with just seven minutes played.

A chance came and went for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to add a second, but just moments later Sokratis Papastathopoulos nodded home from a near-identical position to Gotze to double the visitors' lead.

The third was credited to Marc Batra, who was in the right place at the right time to tap home from a few yards out when a save fell nicely into his path.

Prior to BVB's fourth of the evening, Ousmane Dembele blasted wide and also had two other shots blocked on the edge of the box as the one-sided feel to the game continued.

It was left to Raphael Guerreiro to blast home the fourth when picking out the bottom corner after a blocked shot was not cleared away, and Dortmund still had time to add two more in the final quarter of the match.

Gonzalo Castro was picked out at the back post and made little mistake at the end of free-flowing move, before Aubameyang dinked the ball over the keeper to round things off for the beaten finalists of 2013.
