Marcel Schmelzer suffers suspected broken nose after being kicked in the face by Stuttgart player Martin Harnik.

Borussia Dortmund left-back Marcel Schmelzer has suffered a suspected broken nose during his side's narrow 2-1 win over Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon.

Schmelzer was struck in the face by the boot of Martin Harnik in the penalty box in the 24th minute and after receiving treatment was forced to be substituted.

His replacement Lukasz Piszczek scored his side's first and set up the winner after his introduction in a result that meant that Bayern Munich could not wrap up the Bundesliga title later on.

It is unknown whether Schmelzer will be fit to face Malaga in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
