Borussia Dortmund continue perfect start

Borussia Dortmund's perfect start to the Bundesliga season continues as they comfortably beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park.

Borussia Dortmund continued their perfect start to the Bundesliga season as they overcame Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park this evening.

Dortmund dominated the early stages of the match and nearly took the lead when Henrikh Mkhitaryan's powerful strike was pushed wide by Bernd Leno.

Ilkay Gundogan then had a chance less than a minute later but he scuffed his shot wide.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when Shinji Kagawa's brilliant long pass during a fast break found Jonas Hofmann, who avoided the offside trap to put it past an out-rushing Leno.

Javier Hernandez nearly levelled the scoreline a minute later when he was sent clean through on goal, but he failed to find the target.

Mkhitaryan could have doubled Dortmund's lead just after the half-hour mark but his shot went straight at Leno.

Dortmund made it 2-0 in the 58th minute when Kagawa slotted the ball past Leno from close range after some quick build-up play.

Hakan Calhanoglu had the chance to reduce the deficit shortly after but his free kick was saved by Roman Burki.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then made it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the 74th minute after Wendell's foul on Matthias Ginter in the box.

Substitute Gonzalo Castro nearly added a fourth late on, but his effort hit the post as the hosts were forced to settle for three.
