Borussia Dortmund await FIFA verdict on Kevin Grosskreutz transfer

Borussia Dortmund reveal that they are waiting for clarification from FIFA before they can confirm Kevin Grosskreutz's transfer to Galatasaray.

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Kevin Grosskreutz's potential transfer to Galatasaray has not gone through.

The 27-year-old was ruled out for a number of months last season due to a thigh injury, and earlier this summer he hinted at a potential exit from the Bundesliga club, after failing to be offered a new contract.

Having been frozen out in recent weeks by Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, Grosskreutz travelled to Istanbul on Monday to complete a move to Galatasaray, but the deal was not processed in time and both clubs will now have to wait for FIFA to clarify the deal.

"The transfer agreed between Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray for BVB midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz to move to the Turkish top-flight outfit has not yet gone through," read a statement on Dortmund's official website.

"As usual, Borussia Dortmund verifiably and without exception took all of the necessary steps required by the "FIFA TMS" transfer system for the completion of a transfer - with regard to both deadline and form.

"Football's world governing body FIFA will now clarify the matter."

Grosskreutz has made 330 appearances in his six years at Dortmund, and has helped the club to win two Bundesliga titles.
