Bournemouth topple unbeaten Charlton Athletic

Bournemouth end Charlton Athletic's unbeaten Championship run with a 1-0 win at Dean Court.

Bournemouth brought Charlton Athletic's unbeaten Championship run to an abrupt end with a 1-0 win at Dean Court this afternoon.

Eddie Howe's side went close through Matt Richie in the opening two minutes, before Callum Wilson converted Marc Pugh's cross from close range to give his side an early lead.

Wilson nearly grabbed his second midway through the first half when he was played in by Brett Pitman, but he could only fire wide from a tight angle.

Yoni Buyens came close to levelling the game ten minutes after the restart, but his shot from the centre of the box was blocked.

Bournemouth nearly doubled their lead through Harry Arter on the hour mark, but the midfielder's shot cannoned back off the crossbar.

Steve Cook headed Matt Ritchie's cross narrowly over the bar ten minutes from time, but Bournemouth had already done enough for the win.
