Callum Wilson strike earns Bournemouth first win of Premier League season

Callum Wilson finds a way through 11 minutes from time to earn Bournemouth a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion - their first three-point haul of the campaign.

Bournemouth have picked up their first victory of the Premier League season by edging out West Bromwich Albion 1-0, courtesy of a fine Callum Wilson goal.

The Cherries, with just one win to their name in eight outings prior to today, had to wait until the 79th minute to make the breakthrough as Wilson connected with Adam Smith's cross.

Jordon Ibe was proving to be a real menace early on, firing away a couple of shots in the opening five minutes - the first of which forced Ben Foster into making a routine save.

Bournemouth dominated the opening 45 minutes, continually getting at their opponents and coming close when Wilson blasted over a rebound from close range.

There was a rare sight of goal late in the half for Saido Berahino, but he could not keep his shot on target as the Baggies looked for their first away win at Bournemouth in more than two decades.

The second period started in a frenetic fashion, with Artur Boruc producing a fine double save which led the way for the hosts to counter - Ibe lashing a shot narrowly wide of the goal.

Forster was getting involved more and more in the game as the second half wore on, while Matty Phillips also struck the bar, paving the way for Arsenal loanee Jack Wilshere to be introduced with a little over an hour played.

Wilshere was involved soon after being brought on, setting up a chance for Junior Stanislas at the back post which Foster read well to keep the ball out.

Albion were heading towards one of their trademark shutouts under Tony Pulis, but then up popped Wilson with a fine flicked finish to win the match for his side in style.

West Brom drop down to 13th place as a result of their second defeat of the season, while Eddie Howe's Bournemouth climb up to 14th and level on points with their opponents.
