Jermain Defoe is named on the bench as Bournemouth welcome Newcastle United to the Vitality Stadium.

Jermain Defoe has been named on the Bournemouth bench as Eddie Howe's charges welcome Newcastle United to the Vitality Stadium.

The former England forward has not played since before Christmas due to an ankle injury, but returned to training this week.

The Cherries have made one change from the 4-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town last time out, with Joshua King coming into the XI for Jordon Ibe.

Rafael Benitez, meanwhile, sticks with the same Newcastle starting lineup that claimed a 1-0 win over Manchester United just under two weeks ago.

The Magpies have no fresh injury problems, with only full-back Jesus Gamez missing with an ankle injury.
