Brazil head coach Tite names Eder Militao and Fred in his starting lineup for their second World Cup 2022 Group G fixture against Switzerland.

Brazil head coach Tite has named Eder Militao and Fred in his starting lineup for their second World Cup 2022 Group G fixture against Switzerland.

The 61-year-old boss has been forced to make two changes to his starting lineup after Neymar and Danilo picked up ankle ligament injuries in the 2-0 victory over Serbia last Thursday.

Manchester United midfielder Fred replaced Neymar in the first XI, with the 29-year-old slotting into centre-midfield alongside Casemiro and Lucas Paqueta.

Real Madrid defender Militao, meanwhile, is handed a start at right-back at the expense of Danilo, joining Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Alex Sandro in the back four.

After scoring a brace against Serbia last time out, Richarlison retains his place as Brazil's central striker, with wingers Vinicius Junior and Raphinha providing support in attack.

As for Switzerland, Murat Yakin has decided to drop star winger Xherdan Shaqiri to the substitutes' bench, with 20-year-old Young Boys starlet Fabian Rieder making his full international debut.

The rest of Yakin's team remains unchanged, with Breel Embolo - who scored the only goal in their 1-0 win over Cameroon last time out - leading the line in attack.

Arsenal's Granit Xhaka will captain the Swiss in centre-midfield, while the likes of Manuel Akanji, Ricardo Rodriguez and Ruben Vargas have all been included in the first XI.

Brazil starting lineup: Alisson; Militao, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Sandro; Fred, Casemiro, Paqueta; Raphinha, Richarlison, Vinicius Jr

Subs: Weverton, Ederson, Dani Alves, Fabinho, Telles, Guimaraes, Jesus, Antony, Rodrygo, Ribeiro, Bremer Pedro, Martinelli

Switzerland starting lineup: Sommer; Widmer, Akanji, Elvedi, Rodriguez; Freuler, Xhaka, Sow; Rieder, Embolo, Vargas

Subs: Omlin, Kobel, Koehn, Fernandes, Zakaria, Seferovic, Steffen, Aebischer, Fassnacht, Comert, Frei, Schar, Shaqiri, Jashari
