Mark Warburton: 'Brentford players not nervous about final day'

Brentford boss Mark Warburton insists that his team is fully focused on their final-day showdown with Wigan in the Championship as their playoff hopes hang by a thread.

Brentford boss Mark Warburton has insisted that his players are not feeling nervous ahead of Saturday's crucial showdown with Wigan Athletic in the Championship.

The seventh-placed Bees must win at Griffin Park on the final day of the season and hope that both Derby County and Ipswich Town lose if they want to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Despite plenty riding on the match, Warburton is confident that his players will remain focused and do themselves proud.

"They're intelligent guys and if you don't know the significance of this game then I think you've been walking around with your ears and eyes shut for the past few weeks," the 52-year-old told Sports Mole.

"They know it's an important game. It'll be a packed Griffin Park - go out there and relish it. And that's the beauty of this group of players. They've learned, they've matured, they're hungry for success and they want more. It's a strong group and they know how significant the game is on Saturday."

Brentford ended a four-match winless run in the Championship last weekend when they earned a 2-0 victory over Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
