Mark Warburton: 'Brentford lacked quality in Birmingham City defeat'

Mark Warburton warns his Brentford players that they must bounce back from their defeat at Birmingham City with a victory in their next outing against Huddersfield.

Brentford boss Mark Warburton has admitted that his side lacked the quality that they needed to overcome Birmingham City in yesterday afternoon's defeat.

The Bees were edged out 1-0 at St Andrew's to see their Championship promotion push take a big hit.

However, despite off-field issues dominating the headlines in recent weeks, Brentford remain just one point off a place in the top six, and Warburton is confident that a playoff place is still realistic.

"We lacked a bit of quality and were not quite at our best," he is quoted as saying by London24. "We had a lot of possession but lacked care on the final ball. But this is a tough league.

"There are a lot of points to be played for over the coming weeks. Middlesbrough, for instance, have to play six of the top eight and we have to play against two of those teams.

"We have a chance on Tuesday against Huddersfield to deliver a strong performance and remain in the mix."

Brentford follow up their meeting against Huddersfield Town with a trip to face Ipswich Town.
