Brentford defender Mads Roerslev is reportedly attracting interest from Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, who are in talks over a potential deal.

Wolfsburg have reportedly started talks over a potential loan deal for Brentford defender Mads Roerslev.

The full-back has made 144 competitive appearances since joining the Bees from FC Copenhagen in the summer of 2019.

Roerslev has been in and out of Thomas Frank's side this season, having started nine of his 17 Premier League appearances this season.

However, he has started each of their last four Premier League matches, contributing an assist in Tuesday's 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

As it stands, Roerslev is likely to be involved in Saturday's home clash with leaders Liverpool, but it is unclear whether he will still be at the Gtech Community Stadium beyond the end of next month's transfer deadline.

Wolfsburg in talks over Roerslev move

According to journalist Florian Plettenburg, Wolfsburg are looking to bring Roerslev to the Volkswagen Arena before the transfer window shuts on February 3.

The update claims that Wolfsburg have already opened talks with the Bees over a potential loan deal for the Denmark international.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side have seemingly identified Roerslev as an alternative option to Freiburg's Kiliann Sildillia.

Wolfsburg are starting to make progress in negotiations with Freiburg despite reaching a verbal agreement with Sildillia over a possible move.

How likely is a winter move?

The fact that Roerslev has not always been a guaranteed starter this season suggests that Brentford may be open to his departure if a suitable proposal is made.

However, they are unlikely to green-light his exit without bringing in a replacement to strengthen the right side of their defence.

Aaron Hickey and Kristoffer Ajer represent two of Frank's alternative right-back options, but both players are currently on the sidelines.

Hickey is believed to be closing in on a return to action, but he will be carefully managed following a lengthy spell in the treatment room.

Meanwhile, Ajer is still working on his recovery from an ankle injury which has kept him out of the last five matches.
