Brentford reportedly make an enquiry about the availability of Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

Brentford have reportedly made an enquiry over the potential signing of Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen.

The Bees have already strengthened their squad in the early stages of the summer transfer window after signing Mark Flekken and Kevin Schade on permanent deals from Freiburg.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is now said to be prioritising a new central defender following Pontus Jansson's departure and concerns over Kristofer Ajer's injury record.

They have seemingly identified Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Nathan Collins as one of their top targets, but they are also considering alternatives.

According to The Athletic, Brentford have identified Andersen as a potential option, and they have subsequently made an enquiry to Crystal Palace.

The West London club were informed by Palace that they are not willing to part ways with the Denmark international this summer.

Brentford reportedly value Andersen at £20m, but even if Palace changed their stance, they would command a higher fee.

Andersen has also been the subject of an enquiry from Newcastle United, who are looking to add strength in depth after qualifying for the Champions League.

The 27-year-old is attracting interest after striking up a resilient central defensive partnership with England international Marc Guehi.

Anderson featured in 32 of Palace's 38 Premier League games last season, helping the club secure a respectable 11th-placed finish.

In total, he has made 72 appearances across all competitions since joining the Eagles from Lyon in the summer of 2021.

With Palace unwilling to part ways with Andersen, Brentford may focus their efforts on luring Collins away from Wolves.

A recent report suggested that the Bees are making progress in their pursuit of the 22-year-old after achieving a breakthrough in negotiations.
