Brentford are reportedly interested in signing Besiktas midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
The 31-year-old accepted a new challenge in Turkey during the summer window of 2023 after leaving Anfield as a free agent at the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.
Since then, Oxlade-Chamberlain has featured in 30 competitive matches for Besiktas, including eight games in last term's Europa Conference League.
Scoring four goals and providing one assist in the Turkish Super Lig, the former England international made a respectable contribution to the European giants.
That being said, Oxlade-Chamberlain only made 11 starts in the league during the 2023-24 season, one in which Besiktas slumped to a sixth-placed finish.
According to Turkish journalist Sercan Dikme, Oxlade-Chamberlain's stay in Istanbul could be coming to an end after just a 12-month spell.
The report claims that Premier League battlers Brentford are keen on securing the services of the ex-Arsenal man before the conclusion of the summer window.
It is understood that Thomas Frank's Bees are currently in talks with Besiktas over a move for the 35-time international, who could be open to a switch back to England.
With Friday's deadline fast approaching, it is believed that Brentford are close to submitting a formal offer for Oxlade-Chamberlain, although the West Londoners face serious competition for the midfielder.
It is said that Eredivisie powerhouses Ajax are keen on a deal for the Englishman, who could link up with former Three Lions and Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson in Amsterdam.

West Ham 'suffer' blow in Soler pursuit
Elsewhere in the Premier League, West Ham United have reportedly suffered a financial blow in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler.
The 27-year-old was a regular fixture for the title-winning Parisiens during the 2023-24 campaign, featuring on 24 occasions in Ligue 1 for Luis Enrique's troops.
However, Soler was an unused substitute during PSG's opening-weekend win at Le Havre on August 16 before missing out on the squad completely in the second match of the term.
As a result, it is understood that a move away from Parc des Princes is on the cards for the Spaniard before the shutting of the summer window.
According to Football Insider, West Ham have made Soler their top transfer target as the deadline approaches, with the Hammers keen to bolster their engine-room options.
However, Julen Lopetegui's side will need to offload some first-team players for fees before they are able to secure the services of the 14-time international.
It is understood that West Ham are looking to sell James Ward-Prowse for around £25m, with Nottingham Forest said to be considering an ambitious swoop for the free-kick specialist.

West Ham's Aguerd 'rejects' move to Bundesliga
Staying with the East Londoners, French outlet Foot Mercato are claiming that Nayef Aguerd has rejected a move away from the London Stadium this summer.
The report claims that the 28-year-old has attracted interest from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, who submitted an initial offer for the defender.
However, it is believed that Aguerd has himself rejected a move to the German top-tier club, despite his chances of featuring heavily in West Ham's plans this season reducing over the summer.
Lopetegui's side have secured the services of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Tidibo, meaning that the Moroccan has fallen down the defensive pecking order.
Aguerd was linked with French side Lille earlier in the summer as they searched for a replacement for Manchester United-bound Leny Yoro.
As well as Wolfsburg, it is understood that a host of European clubs are admirers of Aguerd as the summer window enters its concluding moments.
