Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gustavo Poyet bemoans the state of the pitch at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Gustavo Poyet has been highly critical of the pitch at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Poyet took his Brighton & Hove Albion side to Doncaster Rovers this afternoon, where both sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Speaking after the match, Poyet insisted that the pitch made it extremely difficult for the players on show to produce passing football.

"We didn't play well but it was difficult to pass the ball on such a bumpy pitch," said Poyet.

"I'm not making that an excuse because it was the same for both teams and I feel sorry for the Doncaster players because we can go home now while they have to play on it every other week.

"I felt sorry for the fans as well because it was an ugly game - there were some bad decisions for both sides and it wasn't pretty to watch."

The draw lifted Brighton up to seventh in the Championship table.
