Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including Julio Enciso to Ipswich Town and Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United.

Ipswich Town are reportedly on the verge of completing a loan deal for Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Julio Enciso.

The 20-year-old has made 16 appearances for Brighton during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring once and providing one assist, but he is yet to manage a goal contribution in the Premier League this term.

Enciso has a contract at the Amex until June 2026, but there has recently been speculation surrounding his future, with Brighton said to be willing to let him leave on loan before the January transfer window closes for business.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a loan switch to Ipswich has been agreed, with a medical booked in for Wednesday.

Romano insists that it is a 'done deal', but Ipswich will allegedly not have the option to sign him on a permanent basis during this summer's transfer window, even if they are able to remain in the Premier League.

The Paraguay international has scored five goals and registered six assists in 57 appearances for Brighton.

Almiron 'set to return to Atlanta United'

Meanwhile, according to journalist Matteo Moretto, Atlanta United are close to re-signing Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United.

The 30-year-old arrived at St James' Park from Atlanta in 2019, and he has represented the Magpies on 222 occasions in all competitions, scoring 30 goals and registering 12 assists in the process.

Almiron has a record of 23 goals and six assists in 185 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, but his contract is due to expire in June 2026, and there is currently a host of speculation surrounding his future.

Romano claims that the Paraguay international is set to return to Atlanta, with the MLS outfit agreeing to pay a transfer fee of around £10m.

Almiron represented Atlanta between 2016 and 2019, scoring 22 goals and registering 21 assists in 70 appearances for the Eastern Conference side, and he is now set for a return to the Five Stripes.

Celtic 'fail with Barry bid'

Elsewhere, Celtic have allegedly had a £10m bid for Louie Barry turned down by Aston Villa.

The 21-year-old is back at Villa, having been recalled from a loan spell at Stockport County, but he is expected to leave Villa Park again before the end of the January transfer window, with a number of clubs interested.

According to Football Insider, Celtic placed an offer of £10m on the table, which would have seen Villa receive an initial £5m, with a further £5m arriving in various add-ons, which are thought to be straightforward.

However, the report claims that Villa turned down the bid, and it will be difficult for the Scottish Premiership outfit to present the type of offer that would allow them to sign Barry on a permanent basis before the end of the winter market.

The striker, who has netted once in one first-team appearance for Villa, scored 16 times in 24 appearances for Stockport in the first half of this season before being recalled by his parent club.
