The Mariners matched Western Sydney's result earlier today to cut the gap at the top to 10 points.
After a fairly even start, the visitors stunned their opponents with two goals in six first-half minutes.
First, Bernie Ibini-Isei and Storm Roux combined well to set up Nick Fitzgerald, who fired past the goalkeeper at his near post before Ibini-Isei got involved again, working space on the left and pulling the ball back for Anthony Caceres to smash in from the edge of the box.
Brisbane improved after half time with chances for Thomas Brioch and Matt McKay before a series of corners in the final minutes, but the league leaders failed to find the back of the net in the end.
