Bristol City striker Kieran Agard has been ruled out for up to eight weeks because of a knee injury.
The 25-year-old has had successful surgery after locking his knee just before returning to pre-season, but won't be fit for the start of 2015-16.
"Unfortunately Kieran suffered cartilage damage in his knee whilst doing some running two days before he was due back," Robins head physiotherapist Steve Allen told the club website.
"He had a bucket-handle tear of his meniscus and underwent surgery. The surgery was a success and he's on the road to recovery now."
Agard scored 13 league goals in his debut Bristol season after joining from Rotherham United to help the Robins win the League One title and gain promotion back to the Championship.
