Conference Premier roundup: Barnet move five points clear

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday afternoon's action in the Conference Premier as leaders Barnet extend their lead to five points with a 1-0 win over Eastleigh.

Barnet have moved five points clear at the top of the Conference Premier table courtesy of a narrow 1-0 win over Eastleigh.

The Bees started the day with a two-point advantage, but after Halifax Town slipped up against Altrincham, Sam Hoskins's goal was enough to move the Londoners into a commanding lead.

Despite their 3-1 defeat, Halifax remain in second but they have been joined on 27 points by Torquay United, who fought back from a half-time deficit to record a 2-1 win against Wrexham.

A hat-trick from Scott Rendell has moved Woking into fourth place after they beat Southport by a 5-2 scoreline, and the top five is completed by Gateshead, who scored three times in six second-half minutes to record a 3-1 triumph over Braintree Town.

Bristol Rovers missed out on maintaining a playoff spot after they conceded a last-minute goal to draw 1-1 with Dover Athletic, while Forest Green Rovers remain in contention after a late equaliser from Lee Hughes earned them a 2-2 draw away at Macclesfield Town.

At the bottom of the table, AFC Telford United secured a valuable point away at Kidderminster Harriers, but they sit three points adrift after a goal from debutant Adam Dawson helped Nuneaton Town to a 2-1 victory over Lincoln City.

Alfreton Town remain in trouble after a 2-0 setback at Aldershot Town, while Dartford and Welling United edged up the standings after draws with Grimsby Town and Chester FC respectively.
