Charlie Austin scores after just nine minutes for Burnley, but Tomasz Cywka restores parity for Barnsley late on.

Burnley and Barnsley have played out a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor in the Championship.

The hosts made the breakthrough as early as the ninth minute with the first meaningful chance of the match.

Charlie Austin found the target from close range after being set up by Danny Lafferty.

David Edgar had a chance to double his side's advantage on 16 minutes, but he was denied by Luke Steele.

Steele was on hand to keep Kevin Long at bay just minutes after Lee Grant kept out an effort from Jacob Mellis.

Both sides had opportunities to score as the first half progressed, but failed to take them and add to the scoreline.

Chris Dagnall tried his luck from distance in the opening minutes of the second half in vain, but there was a second goal in the game and it came six minutes from time.

David Perkins set up Tomasz Cywka and the latter fired in from outside the Burnley box to the top-right corner of the goal to earn a point for Barnsley.
