Ashley Barnes relishing Burnley switch

Burnley striker Ashley Barnes says that he is looking forward to playing for the club, following his transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ashley Barnes has said that the chance to move to Burnley was a "fantastic opportunity".

The 24-year-old joined the Lancashire club from fellow Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday for an undisclosed fee.

"I am sorry to leave Brighton, but it was a fantastic opportunity with Burnley and one which I really had to take. I hope fans understand that football can be like that," he told The Argus.

"Now I am now looking forward to the next chapter of my career at a new club – but I will take away some brilliant memories from time with the Albion."

Burnley sit second in the table ahead of their match against Yeovil Town on Saturday.
