Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett has admitted that he was pleased to see his team win without playing well against Rochdale this afternoon.
The Brewers overcame 10-man Dale at the Pirelli Stadium thanks to an own goal by Oliver Lancashire on the stroke of half time.
"It was a great result. I'm not too worried about the performance at this moment," Rowett told BBC Radio Derby. "We didn't play anywhere near our best. We moved the ball a bit too slowly and didn't take enough care in possession.
"That is going to happen from time to time. I thought the grass was a bit long, so the ball wasn't moving around quick enough. But I was pleased with our shape and I was pleased with our defensive performance.
"This time last season, we had played well in the opening three or four games and hadn't got the results we wanted. This season, we've not played quite so well, but we've got two wins and a draw from three games."
The victory, which came in front of 2,679 supporters, moved Burton up to sixth in the League Two table.
