A report claims that Burton Albion are the favourites to sign former Sunderland midfielder Adam Reed.

Burton Albion have reportedly emerged as the favourites to sign former Sunderland midfielder Adam Reed this summer.

The 22-year-old is currently available on a free transfer having departed the Stadium of Light at the end of the season.

Reed failed to make a single first-team appearance for Sunderland, but has had experience in the Football League during short-term spells at a number of clubs.

According to Sky Sports News, Burton have made contact with the player's representatives, but they are just one of a number of clubs interested in his signature.

Reed spent time with Portsmouth and York City last season.
