Former Newcastle United winger Nolberto Solano has reportedly applied to become the new manager of League Two side Bury.
The Shakers have been without a boss since Monday when the board decided that the time was right to part company with Kevin Blackwell.
A number of people, including John Coleman, Noel Whelan and Steven Kean have been linked with the vacancy, but they will now face some competition from Peruvian Solano, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 38-year-old has had one previous managerial spell when he spent a few months in charge of Universitario de Deportes back in his homeland last year.
As well as Newcastle, Solano also represented Aston Villa, West Ham United, Leicester City, Hull City and Hartlepool United during his playing career.
