Bury snap up free agent Peter Clarke

Bury sign their first player since their promotion to League One, adding free agent centre-back Peter Clarke.

Newly-promoted League One side Bury have completed their first signing of the summer by adding centre-back Peter Clarke on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old was available on a free after being released by Blackpool earlier this month.

Shakers boss David Flitcroft told the club website: "Peter is a very important signing for the team and the club as we enter an exciting new League One adventure.

"With his experience, knowledge and understanding of playing at higher levels it was important to capture his services and add him to the group.

"He is a natural born leader and organiser; a football man of stature and standing in the game. With the young, dynamic defenders we currently have at the club he complements them superbly."

Last season, Clarke scored twice in 39 appearances as Blackpool finished bottom of the Championship to join Bury in League One.
