Mathieu Duhamel scored a brace as Caen returned to Ligue 1 with a 3-0 victory over Evian TG on Saturday night.
N'Golo Kante broke the deadlock in just the 12th minute with a powerful finish after finding space in the box to meet a cross from Lenny Nangis.
The lead was doubled when Duhamel opened his account for the evening by taking advantage of hesitant Evian defending to fire home from 12 yards out.
Caen effectively wrapped up the points before the break as Duhamel sprinted into space to head in Florian Raspentino's delivery for his second of the match.
The visitors had opportunities to extend their lead in the second half, with Nangis and Raspentino both seeing long-range strikes saved by Jesper Hansen.
Evian applied pressure late on as they desperately looked for a way back into the match, but Remi Vercoutre was on form to keep out their best effort from Djakaridja Kone as Caen eased to all three points.
