Cagliari record a 1-0 win over Lazio in Serie A this evening thanks to a goal from Daniele Dessena.

A goal from Daniele Dessena has given Cagliari Calcio a 1-0 win over Lazio in Serie A this evening.

Dessena headed home from close range in the 75th minute to give his side the three points.

Victor Ibarbo came close to opening the scoring in the first half when his left-footed shot from outside the box was saved by Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

Cagliari went even closer a minute before the break, but Danilo Avelar's left-footed volley from a tight angle came back off the bar.

Early in the second period, Avelar went close once more with a shot that flew narrowly over the bar.

Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva then tried his luck from an acute angle after getting on the end of Cristian Ledesma's cross, but his effort was saved.

Neither side could find the breakthrough until Dessena connected with Andrea Cossu's cross to plant a header past Marchetti and secure the victory.
