Hellas Verona earn win at Cagliari Calcio

Goals either side of half time give Verona a narrow 2-1 win at fellow Serie A strugglers Cagliari.

Cagliari's chances of Serie A survival have been dealt a blow with a 2-1 defeat at home to Hellas Verona.

The opening goal of the game arrived with just 10 minutes played when Luca Toni got in front of his marker to prod home a cross from the left.

Verona then increased their lead 10 minutes after the restart as Juan Taleb rose highest to head in Emil Hallfredsson's free kick.

Cagliari were rewarded for their efforts in stoppage time when Daniele Conti found the net with a free kick, but the hosts did not have enough time to salvage a share of the spoils.
