The representative of Davide Astori has confirmed that Southampton are one of a number of clubs that are interested in signing the Cagliari defender.
The 25-year-old has been tipped to leave Sardinia during this month's transfer window and agent Renzo Contratto admits that a January move is likely.
"There are many clubs interested in Astori and among them I know there is also Southampton," Contratto told Sky Sports News.
"Both the player and Cagliari have said in the last days that, in the event that an important offer came, they will evaluate it together and decide what to do. This could happen even in January."
Astori is under contract at Stadio Is Arenas until June 2015.
