Cambridge United have secured the services of Keith Keane on a two-year contract.
The 28-year-old has made the switch to the Abbey Stadium following a three-year stint with Preston North End.
Speaking about the reasoning behind his decision to join the U's, the midfielder admitted that he was attracted by manager Richard Money's desire for the club to gain promotion to League One.
"The steps they are taking to get this club into League One is why I have chosen Cambridge. The ambition and aim is to be promoted and not to mess about. I am coming here to win football matches," he told the club's official website.
Keane, who has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, started his career with Luton Town, where he spent nine years prior to joining Preston.
