Cardiff City have reportedly cancelled the first instalment of the £15m that they paid to Ligue 1 club Nantes for striker Emiliano Sala.
The 28-year-old had completed a transfer to the Premier League side earlier this month, but disappeared alongside pilot David Ibbotson after his plane to Cardiff went missing near the island of Alderney.
According to The Telegraph, Cardiff have decided to cancel the first instalment of £6m and are considering legal action on the grounds of negligence.
The report adds that Cardiff may lose up to £14m even after claiming any insurance payouts, while Bordeaux are demanding the profits from the sell-on clause that they implemented in their agreement with Nantes for Sala in 2015.
Prior to the plane's disappearance, Sala was the fifth highest scorer in Ligue 1 with 12 goals.
