David Kerslake: 'Cardiff City squad is united'

David Kerslake says that the Cardiff City squad is united despite upheaval behind the scenes at the Welsh club.

Cardiff City caretaker manager David Kerslake has said that the squad is showing togetherness despite a turbulent period in the Welsh capital.

The 47-year-old took charge of the first team for last night's home encounter with Sunderland, which ended in frustration as the Bluebirds had to settle for a point after blowing a two-goal lead.

"We got ourselves into a really good lead with eight minutes remaining," he told Sky Sports News. "We defended in the main well but we conceded another bad goal and it's something we'll put right.

"In the opening period we were first class. I asked them to come out really quick and that's what they did. In the second half we dropped off but they dug in and gave everything for the cause so I've no complaints there.

"We have to remember that Sunderland are a decent side and they popped it around really well. They pushed bodies forward and it was down to us to defend better. We have a belief and a togetherness here and hopefully that will take us a long way."

Malky Mackay was sacked as manager of the club on Friday.
