Catania sack Luigi De Canio

Catania confirm the sacking of Luigi De Canio, with Rolando Maran expected to return to the club.

Serie A side Catania have dismissed coach Luigi De Canio following their humiliating 4-1 home defeat to Serie B side Siena in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night.

De Canio replaced former boss Rolando Maran, but lasted just 11 games with the latter widely expected to return to the job he left just a few months ago.

The club confirmed the sacking of De Canio following Wednesday's defeat, but have not yet announced Moran as the replacement.

De Canio managed Queens Park Rangers in the 2007-08 season and has also since been in charge of Lecce and Genoa.
