Gaston Ramirez's late strike was enough to earn Bologna a 1-0 win over mid-table rivals Catania in Serie A action tonight.
The Uruguayan forward netted a 79th-minute winner for the visitors to see them jump above their opponents in the table.
In a game of few chances, Ramirez had Bologna's best of the first period but struck off target from a good position.
Catania were also guilty of wasting fine opportunities in the opening 45 minutes as firstly Francesco Lodi and then Sergio Almiron passed up chances.
Ramirez was not to prove so wasteful with his next attempt as he struck the match winner eleven minutes from time.
