Charlie Mulgrew rues missed chances against AC Milan

Charlie Mulgrew says that Celtic can still qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League despite losing to AC Milan on Wednesday.

Celtic midfielder Charlie Mulgrew has admitted that his side did not take their chances against AC Milan on Wednesday.

The Serie A outfit scored twice late on as an Emilio Izaguirre own goal and a strike from Sully Muntari was enough to secure the Rossoneri a 2-0 win at the San Siro.

Despite the defeat, Mulgrew remains confident that the Scottish champions can advance from the group.

"Our belief hasn't changed after this defeat," Mulgrew told reporters. "We did not take our chance, Milan did; that's the story of the game so maybe it was a small lesson for us.

"I don't think this result changed much as regards the group and our chance to qualify – we just need to earn as many points as we can from now on. And the same can be said for Barcelona's victory against Ajax.

"We know what Barcelona possess, they are a great team, but we are up for that. We are very disappointed with tonight's defeat but we have to keep believing. It was just one game and there is a long way to go."

Celtic face Barcelona in their next Group H encounter.
