Brendan Rodgers unconcerned by Celtic discipline ahead of Linfield return match

Brendan Rodgers claims that Celtic are a "very disciplined" team, despite being threatened with UEFA action for events that unfolded against Linfield last week.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that keeping his players under control is not something that is on his mind ahead of Wednesday's second-leg clash with Linfield.

Tensions boiled over in the opening 90 minutes of the Champions League qualifier as five visiting players were cautioned at Windsor Park, while UEFA has also taken action after Leigh Griffiths tied a Celtic scarf to the goalposts at full time.

It is the second time the governing body has looked into a complaint surrounding the Scottish side, with a hearing to be held after the second leg concludes, but Rodgers claims that ill-discipline is not a cause for concern.

"It's something where we just have to wait and see what that will be, really," Rodgers said of Thursday's UEFA hearing. "There's not a great deal to comment on. The hearing is on Thursday so we'll see what comes back from that. If you look over the course of my time here, my players are very, very disciplined in how they play and how they work both tactically and in their actual composure in the games.

"We'll just wait and see what the hearing result is on Thursday. We're a team that's very disciplined in how we work and we'll remain being that. They've judged [Griffiths's action as inflammatory] and it's irrelevant what I think of it. He's been judged by UEFA so we take what comes from that."

The Bhoys take a 2-0 lead into the match at Celtic Park thanks to goals from Scott Sinclair and Tom Rogic last week.
