Ronny Deila delighted by Celtic defensive improvement

Ronny Deila says that Celtic's defence impressed him during their 3-0 victory against St Johnstone on Sunday.

Ronny Deila has said that he is pleased with Celtic's defending following their 3-0 victory at St Johnstone.

The Celtic defence has come under criticism this season after poor performances in European competitions, but the Norwegian felt that the team's defensive performance was crucial in Sunday's victory.

"I'm very, very happy," Deila told BBC Sport. "Ten times we're coming back (from European matches) and 10 victories so you can't do it better than that."

"Craig Gordon was unbelievable today. Two times he had unbelievable saves. We have to humble for that and give him credit.

"I think we defend much better now. They had a lot of crosses, set-plays. We were really aggressive and disciplined in the back four."

The win has put Celtic four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
