John Guidetti left Celtic because of "too few big games"

John Guidetti believes that he was dropped from the Swedish national team because goals in Scotland 'don't count as much as goals in other leagues'.

Former Celtic striker John Guidetti has hit out at Scottish domestic football by indicating that goals don't count as much as they do in other leagues.

The striker, who has won two caps for Sweden, believes that he was dropped from the national squad because he was playing his football in a lower standard of league.

"I was taken out of the national team after scoring, I think it was 11 goals in 10 matches, but I did not play," Guidetti told Swedish newspaper Expressen.

"Then I understood. It felt like my goals at Celtic were not counted in the same way as in other leagues and I can understand.

"We played Inter and the stadium was packed. It was the most magical atmosphere I have experienced. But there are too few big games in Celtic. So I felt that my goals were not counted in the same way as in another league. There are too few 'big games'."

Guidetti, 23, scored 15 goals in 35 games for Celtic, including one against Inter Milan, but only eight of those came in the Scottish Premiership.
