Man arrested over 'anti-Lennon' websites

A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly creating 'hate' websites about Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

The man, from Callander, was arrested yesterday in a joint operation between Strathclyde Police, Central Scotland Police and the Football Co-ordination Unit for Scotland.

"I would advise anyone who has posted messages which are likely or intended to threaten violence or cause fear or alarm to any person to remove them immediately," said Superintendent David Brand.

"This arrest shows we are not only targeting those who post messages on the internet but those who seek to create internet hate sites.

"Please be warned: if you do post hatred over the internet you may not be arrested today but we will be paying you a visit some time in the future."

The accused will appear at Stirling Sheriff Court today.
