Stiliyan Petrov charity match draws 60,000

More than 60,000 supporters turn out for a charity match for leukaemia survivor Stiliyan Petrov.

A crowd of more than 60,000 showed up at Celtic Park to pledge their support to leukaemia survivor Stiliyan Petrov.

The capacity crowd watched Kenny Dalglish's Stiliyan XI defeat a Celtic XI managed by Martin O'Neill 5-3.

A host of celebrities and footballers past and present, including Petrov himself, took to the pitch to raise money for cancer treatment.

Fulham forward Dimitar Berbatov opened the scoring for Stiliyan XI, but his first-minute strike was cancelled out by a Henrik Larsson penalty.

Martin Petrov put his namesake's side back in front, and Berbatov bagged two more goals to complete a hat-trick with less than an hour on the clock.

Comedian John Bishop later missed a penalty, and Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor unintentionally injured One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.

Goals from Pierre van Hooijdonk and actor Warren Brown reduced the deficit to 4-3, but a late strike from Westlife's Nicky Byrne made it 5-3.

Petrov left the field to a standing ovation when he was substituted in the first half.
