"Good bid" could tempt Celtic to sell Gary Hooper

Neil Lennon admits that a decent bid may force Celtic into selling their main striker Gary Hooper.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has conceded that his club may be forced to part with Gary Hooper if they were to receive a "good bid" for the striker's services.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 82 goals in 137 appearances for the Bhoys, was the subject of three unsuccessful bids from Norwich City during the January transfer window.

The Canaries have been linked with a return offer this summer, while Sunderland are also thought to be preparing a bid.

Discussing the centre-forward's situation, Lennon admitted that while he would like to "hold on" to his marksman, the decision may be taken out of his hands.

"He is a pivotal player for us. He's really developed into a top class striker and it is backhanded compliment to the work that has been done behind the scenes at the club in developing Gary as a player," he told Sky Sports News.

"He's a brilliant young English player and we would love to hold on to him - it's a priority for me to keep him. But if we get a good bid in and it is good business for the club, we may have to think again."

Hooper joined Celtic from Scunthorpe United in 2010.
